PURPOSE:A divalent europium-activating alkaline earth metal fluoride halide fluorescent substance that is given with a specific constitution formula, thus giving radiation image conversion panel with improved after-image properties, because it has excellent emission stimulation. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluorescent substance is represented by the constitution formula: MIIFX.aNaX'.bA:xEu<2+> (MII is Ba, Ca, Sr; X, X' are Cl, Br, I; A is InF3, In2O3; a, b, x are 0<a<=2.0, 3X10<-4=b<=2X10<-2>, 0<x<=0.2). The objective fluorescent substance is prepared by mixing an alkaline earth metal fluoride, an alkaline earth metal halide, indium fluoride and/or indium oxide, sodium halide and an europium compound, e.g., in the form of a suspension, removing water from the mixture, then, roasting the fine particles of the mixture at 500-1,300 deg.C in an electric furnace for 0.5-6hr.
