PURPOSE:To prevent the loss of an optical fiber strand despite the breakage of the strand during working and the decrease in operating efficiency by installing plural regulators for take-off tension and linear speeds of the optical fiber and controllers for the linear speeds in the drawing line for the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In a device for spinning an optical fiber from the base material thereof, the 1st auxiliary take-off 24, the 2nd auxiliary take-off 11 and a coiler 13 are disposed in succession to a main take-off 9. A wire accumulator 25 is installed between the take-off 9 and the take-off 24. Also, regulators 28, 22, 23 for the take-off tension and linear speeds of the devices 9, 24, 11, 13 and controllers 15, 30, 16, 19 for linear speeds are installed. If an optical fiber strand 7 breaks between the take-off 24 and the take-off 11 during working, a speed decrease command signal 32 is applied to the 2nd controller 30, by which the speed is decreased; at the same time, the speeds of the take-off 11 and the coiler 13 are decreased, whereby the stoppage of the take-off of the strand on the wire accumulator side is obviated despite the breakage of the strand 7, and the loss of the strand and the decrease in operating efficiency are eliminated. |
