PURPOSE:To reduce knocking occurrence frequency, by a method wherein estimated correction in relation to the region of an ignition time under an operation state, being not corrected through only partial operation is effected through whole correction, and thereafter, partial correction is effected, and when a gap is increased, the partial correction is shifted back to the whole correction again. CONSTITUTION:During operation of a vehicle, it is decided whether a present correction (whole correction) control is effected depending upon whether a vehicle is in some operation condition, such as the starting of an engine. When decision is YES, the address of 2 maps in a ROM 17 are specified from outputs from a suction air pressure sensor 1 and a sensor 4 for the number of revolutions of an engine, and after the value of a fundamental ignition time and the value of an ignition timing at allowable maximum torque are read out, a difference therebetween is determined. Based on the difference, the value of the fundamental ignition timing is corrected. By means of the outputs from the sensors 1 and 4 serving as parameter, each partial correction values of divided map are learnt and are fed for correction to the value of a whole correction ignition timing as the values are renewed, and when the correction value exceeds a control value, the partial correction is shifted back to whole correction agains. |
