A heart pacemaker having means for recording signals from the heart and having a circuit for compensating at least partially for the influence of a preceding stimulation pulse on the output capacitor, by means of a directly subsequent pulse of opposite polarity, the subsequent opposite pulse having a larger maximum voltage amplitude, and the stimulation pulse being variable with respect to its time duration and/or its amplitude with the corresponding parameters of the stimulation pulse, by means of common adjusting means, and the opposite pulse being ended when its current integral corresponds to the current integral of the preceding stimulation pulse, related to one of the supply leads of the output capacitor.
