A process for producing seat or backrest upholstery is described, in which an at least partly air-permeable cover (20) is introduced into a thermoforming mould (10). The cover (20) is sucked together with an air-impermeable film (26) which covers the thermoforming mould (10) against the thermoforming mould (10). Subsequently the thermoforming mould (10) is filled with foam. <IMAGE>
