PURPOSE:To improve manouvability of the document inputting and editing operations by providing means for storing the designated area, means for computing the number of inputtable rows and that of inputted rows in the designated area, and means to change the line feed value on the basis of the results of computation. CONSTITUTION:With the input document displayed, the kinds of the key data are discriminated by the keying operation at the keyboard 1 through key data take-in means 2 and key discriminating means 3. When the uniformly arranged key is operated, a cursor position changing operation is performed. A position designating key is then operated so that the start and end points of the designated area and the document are stored in an area start and end point position memory means 5. On the basis of the information of the means 5, the number of the inputtable rows in the designated area and the number of rows in the designated document area are computed by means 6 for computing the number of rows in the designated area and means 7 for computing the number of rows in the designated document domain. On the basis of results of computation, the line feed value is changed by line feed change means 8 so that the uniform line intervals of the document can be attained in the designated area for improving manouvability of the document inputting and editing operations.
