PURPOSE:To enable to perform early conformation to an optimum ignition timing, by a method wherein the value of an ignition timing is corrected from a correction amount decided according to a suction air amount and the number of revolutions of an engine, and a correction coefficient by means of which the correction amount is set is decreased according to the number of corrections. CONSTITUTION:During operation of a vehicle, it is decided according to the number of revolutions of an engine and a suction air pressure whether a present operation condition is in the control region of an ignition time. When YES, the correction amount and the number of corrections during a time till the preceding time are retrieved by an ignition timing correction amount map circuit 33 and a number of corrections holding map circuit 34. In relation to a correction factor decreased according to the number of corrections, a decision value is determined by a learning curve holding circuit 35 and a knock occurring interval deciding circuit 36. During detection of knocking, knock strength ad a knock occurring interval are computed by a computing circuit 38, an angle of delay amount produced due to the aboves is retrieved from a gain map 39, and from the value and the correction factor, an actual angle of delay amount is calculated. |
