The invention relates to a cover plate for covering the ground in the region of holding devices, stakes and the like which project out of the ground, in particular of boundary stakes on embankments, motorways etc., this plate being held, by self-locking on the holding device, stake and the like, close to the ground in the predetermined position, even in the case of uneven ground and wind action, and thus preventing grass growth in this covered region. For the purpose of easier fixing of the cover plate on holding devices which are already mounted and support crash barriers, signs and the like, the same is divided by at least one separating joint which reaches from the outer edge as far as the central opening and can be reclosed.
