PURPOSE:To obtain polychromic hard film superior in wear resistance by forming hard base color layer over whole of surface of material to be treated, masking a prescribed part, forming said color layer of different color at the part which is not masked, then removing the mask. CONSTITUTION:Whole of the surface of the treating material 1 is ion plated firstly, to form a hard base color layer 2 (e.g. gold color film composed mainly of TiN) by about 5mu thickness. A prescribed surface of the layer 2 is masked to form a mask 3. Next, an upper part color layer 4 (e.g. black film composed mainly of TiC) having color different from that of the layer 2 is formed by about 5mu thickness on the layer 2 other than the mask 3 surface, by ion plating. Next, the layer of the mask 3 formed by masking is pealed off from the layer 2 to exhibit two colors pattern on the treated surface of the material 1. |
