PURPOSE:An abrasive material that contains zinc sulfide as an additive, thus being suitable for use in brakes and clutches of trucks and passenger cars, because it increases its own friction coefficient without abrasion of the counterpart material, improves the abrasion resistance of friction materials and the ignition temperature of these materials. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by adding zinc sulfide as one of inorganic fillers, preferably in an amount of 1-10wt% to a friction material which is composed of metallic, inorganic or organic fibers other than asbestos as a reinforcing material, a thermosetting resin and organic and inorganic fillers. The zinc sulfide is added in the form of lithopone or in a combination with barium sulfate and antimony trioxide whereby the above-state effect is amplified. |
