PURPOSE:To delete completely a secondary beat component even in a variable speed reproduction mode where dynamic tracking is produced, by securing the coincidence between the delay time of a delay time circuit provided to a non-correlative signal detecting circuit and the horizontal cycle of a reproduction signal. CONSTITUTION:In a variable speed reproduction mode, the horizontal cycle of a reproduction signal varies in response to the tape driving speed. Thus the output of a shaping circuit 122 which is supplied to a PLL110 also varies in response to the tape driving speed. Then the cycle of a clock signal supplied from a voltage control oscillator 113 and phase-locked to the output of the circuit 122 is also changed. Furthermore, the delay time of a variable delay circuit 101 which is driven by the clock signal is also changed in response to the tape driving speed. Thus the complete correlation is secured between luminance signals Y of the input and the output of the circuit 101. Then the secondary beat component CB is extracted completely by a non-correlative signal detecting circuit 100 including the circuit 101. This component CB is cancelled by a secondary beat signal processing means 90 and a subtractor.
