PURPOSE:To reduce the number of key switches to simplify the operation by operating only the first key switch, the second key switch, and an upper case/ space key switch when a Hiragana (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) character or the like is inputted. CONSTITUTION:An input device 1 is provided with the first key witches 2, 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D, the second key switches 3, 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D, an upper case/space key switch 6, etc. When Hiragana characters are inputted, characters 'a, i, u, e, o' are inputted by operating switches 2-2D with a right hand. When each of 20 characters 'ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, sa, si, su, se, so, ta, ti, tu, te, to, na, ni, nu, ne, no, ha, hi, hu, he, ho' is inputted, one of the first key switches is operated with the right hand, and one of the second key switches is operated with a left hand simultaneously. The other Hiragana characters, voiced sounds, p-sound, etc. are inputted by the operation of 11 key witches, thereby reducing the number of key switches to simplify the operation.
