The invention relates to a method of constructing a tunnel lining with the use of a shield driving machine. In the protection of the shield, the ring segments belonging to a ring are positioned one after the other and are joined to one another by welds running in the longitudinal axis of the tunnel. By rotating the segments, already joined to one another, about the longitudinal axis of the tunnel, it is ensured that the weld, running in the longitudinal axis of the tunnel, between each two segments can always be made in the area of the tunnel floor. Only after the ring is complete is it pressed against the existing tunnel lining and attached to it by means of a circumferential weld.
