PURPOSE:To achieve highly responsive capacity control by arranging a suction control valve to be energized through a shape-memory alloy spring in the suction path of vane-type compressor. CONSTITUTION:A suction control valve 57 is arranged in the suction path 48 of vane-type compressor where the valve body 59 of said valve is energized through a shape-memory alloy spring 60. Upon power supply to said spring 60 from an external power source 65, it is reset to the initially stored shape thus to communicate between second suction hole 42 and the suction path 48 and to perform large capacity operation. While upon interruption of power supply from the external power source, said spring 60 is cooled through suction gas thus to block communication between the suction path 48 and second suction hole 42 quickly. Consequently, the compressor is switched instantaneously to low capacity operation.
