PURPOSE:To reduce the size and the weight of an engine and to improve efficiency, by a method wherein, in a title hydraulic engine, a working liquid distributing mechanism is mounted such that an outgoing and incoming ports formed in a casing, are formed on the front cover side through which a rotary shaft is inserted. CONSTITUTION:In a constant-volume type hydraulic engine, outgoing and incoming ports 4 and 5, making a set, are open to a front end surface 2a of a front cover 2 of a casing 1. A torque plate 9 is spline-engaged with a rotary shaft 6 supported to the casing 1, and a cylinder block 11, inclined at a given angle with a rotation center M of a rotary shaft 6, is disposed behind the plate 9. Pistons 15 are respectively engaged with plural cylinder holes 14 of the cylinder block 11, and the external end thereof is pivotally supported to the torque plate 9. A valve port 10, having connection ports 26 and 27, through which the ports 4 and 5 are connected to a cylinder hole 14, is formed in the inner surface of the front cover 2 with which the front plate 9 is brought to slide contact.
