A stamped knitting tool for knitting machines incorporates a shank with at least one butt and at least two guide sections, which run from the top shank edge to the bottom edge. One of the guide sections is located below the butt and the two are connected by at least one narrow crossbar with a 1.1 mm max. height. The bar, together with the guide sections, defines a free space which is filled with a vibration damping material connected rigidly to the needle shank.
