PURPOSE:To simplify an operation so as to lighten the burden imposed on an operator and to shorten the communications time by calling an opposite equipment according to the discrimination information of an opposite communications device and controlling the connection to the opposite equipment in accordance with a control sequence set by transmission mode information. CONSTITUTION:A control part 20 accesses to an address corresponding to a RAM21 to read subscriber's number information, which is supplied to an out-pulse dial circuit 14. A dial pulse corresponding to the subscriber's number information is generated from the circuit 14, and transmitted to an exchange through a subscriber line 2 from an NCU17, thereby calling the opposite equipment. First, it returns a signal CED for initial discrimination. The control part 20 of a call side equipment first sets the communications control sequence based on transmission mode information in the transmission mode information memory area of the RAM21. When a phase signal is transmitted according to said sequence and the return of the CFR from the opposite equipment is recognized, a picture signal is transmitted. After the termination of the transmission of the picture signal, an EOM is transmitted. When an MCF is recognized to be returned from the opposite equipment, a series of call control is terminated.
