PURPOSE:To convert an input dot pattern at high speed and output it by placing a circuit for converting an arrangement of dots in dot pattern sequences and a circuit for converting a coaxial arrangement of the pattern sequences. CONSTITUTION:A recording head controller has a construction as shown in the drawing. A printing data is outputted to a recording head driver through output control circuits 12-15 and to four block printing data latches 8-11 through a byte controller 1 reversing up and down a belt in respective bytes. The respective printing data latches and the output control circuits are constructed, for example, by 8 bits. By successively strobing the output control circuits 12-15, a recording head such as a thermosensible head an ink jet head, or a wire dot head comprising 32(8X4) elements can be controlled. A reverse and a non-reverse of the byte controller 1 are controlled by an output of a command register for latching a 8 bit command inputted from data lines D0-D7.
