PURPOSE:To measure the inclination by providing a mercury sealed pipe for rotating bodies which can be rotated while being guided with a circular fixed frame and shifting the center of gravity because of movement of the mercury in the pipe to rotate rotating bodies in accordance with the inclination when the fixed frame is inclined. CONSTITUTION:A frame 5 having rolls 6a and 6b is provided for a circular fixed frame 1 and is made rotatable. The frame 5 is provided with a semicircular pipe 4, and a mercury 3 is sealed in the pipe 4. The rotation axis of the frame 5 is made orthogonal to the inclination direction of the fixed frame 1 and is made horizontal. When the fixed frame 1 is inclined, the mercury 3 in the pipe 4 is moved, and one of rolls 6a and 6b of the frame 5 is placed in the highest or lowest position by movement of the center of gravity. A polarizing plate 12 attached to the frame 5 is rotated together with the frame 5 at this time, and the rotation angle is detected by a sensor 7. Consequently, the inclination is measured quickly while following up the variation of the inclination because the mercury in the pipe is moved by the inclination to shift the center of gravity. |
