PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a format pattern memory means by locking a format pattern given from the format pattern memory means during the transfer of data and then releasing the lock state when the end of the data transfer is detected. CONSTITUTION:A lock means for read address of a ROM2 consists of a control register 4 and a format control circuit 1. While a lock release means consists of the 2nd counter 5 and the circuit 1. A format pattern is locked during the transfer of data and therefore it is not needed to store the format pattern to the ROM2. This can reduce the capacity of a format pattern ROM. Furthermore the set value of a data counter 5 can be changed easily despite the change of the data length.
