PURPOSE:To discriminate the quantity of an unused tape even when it has been contained in a case, by piercing an opening window on a back label sticking surface of a video tape, installing an index plate in which a part which has been detained roughly to a cassette and provided with an index is projected to the opening window, and moving the index in accordance with the use quantity of the tape. CONSTITUTION:An index 31 is marked on an index plate 3, and also supporting shafts 32, 33 are formed on both sides. An opening window 11 and 21 are formed on an upper cassette half 1 and a lower cassette half 2, respectively, and the supporting shafts 32, 33 of the index plate 3 are detained roughly to rib-shaped projections 22, 23. When the index plate 3 is inserted and attached to an assembly of the upper cassette half 1 and the lower cassette half 2, the index 31 can be confirmed on the back label side of a tape cassette, and even in a state that the tape has been contained in a case of 4, the remaining quantity of the tape can be discriminated easily.
