PURPOSE:To execute recording by a recording density corresponding to a frequency characteristic, even if the generation of a data is intermittent and the number of the generation of the data per unit time is small, by reading out a digital data of a storage means at a speed corresponding to a frequency characteristic of a video tape, and executed a recording operation. CONSTITUTION:A VTR controller 8 has a function for recording a digital data written in large capacity memories 6, 7 in a video tape by a VTR5, and also has a rewinding function for rewinding a position of the video tape by more than a length corresponding to a recording start period Tw+Tr of the VTR5, when a recording operation to the video tape of the VTR5 is ended, and a function for executing a reproduction from a position of the video tape which is rewound by the rewinding function in case of executing the recording operation, obtaining vertical and horizontal synchronizing signals and taking the synchronization, and thereafter, reading out the digital data of the large capacity memories 6, 7 from the previous data recording end position recorded in the video tape, at a speed corresponding to a frequency characteristic of the video tape, and recording it by the VTR5. In this way, recording can be executed by a recording density corresponding to the frequency characteristic without being influenced by a recording data.
