THERMAL RECORDING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To provide a black color forming thermal recording material having excellent raw-state preservability and high thermal color forming property, by providing a thermal recording layer comprising a specified benzoylacetic acid amide derivative and other specified substances on a base. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording layer comprising microcapsules comprising at least one diazonium salt capable of azo-coupling with 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid anilide to form a blue color, 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid anilide a benzoylacetic amide derivative of general formula (I) and a basic substance is provided on a base. The microcapsules containing the diazonium salt are so formed that a core substance and reactive substances present in the exterior of the microcapsules are brought into reaction mainly through the capsule walls by heating. The basic substance may be a difficulty water-soluble or a water-insoluble basic substance or a substance capable of generating an alkali when being heated.
