PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium having gradation reproducibility, capable of obtaining a high density transfer image and having high sensitivity, by using a basic dye having an ion pair selected from a specific compound group as an image forming substance. CONSTITUTION:As an image forming substance, a basic dye having an ion selected from a specific compound group is used. Said compound group consists of (I) 1-18C saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, (II) 2-10C saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, (III) 2-20C unsaturated fatty acid, (IV) aromatic carboxylic acid, (V) heterocyclic carboxylic acid, (VI) org. sulfonic acid and (VII) org. sulfinic acid. Said image forming substance can be used by employing the above mentioned basic dye alone or by combining two or more of basic dyes. |
