PURPOSE:To enable a carriage to be easily fixed and released, by providing a carriage stopper with a part for engagement with a stay and providing a stator with a contact part, in a typewriter in which a stator of a linear pulse motor is fixed to left and right side plates of a frame of a printer part, and a stay consisting of a metallic plate for connecting the side plates to each other is provided. CONSTITUTION:When fixing the carriage 11, engaging grooves 12b, 12b' of a carriage stopper 12 are engaged to the stator 8, the stopper 12 is thereby inserted between the stator 8 and the stay 13, and is sliden toward the carriage 11. When a projection 12a of the stopper 12 comes to the position of a hole 14 provided in the stay 13, the projection 12a and the hole 14 are engaged with each other by elastic forces of arms 12c, 12d. The stopper 12 can be detached by gripping a handle 12e of the stopper 12 and pulling it in the direction of the stator 8. |
