<p>PURPOSE:To extend the service life of a thermal head by protecting an abrasion resistant protective layer by discharging static electricity generated at the time of printing from a second protective film to a common electrode, by forming the abrasion resistant protective layer from a first protective layer having high insulating resistance and a second protective film having low insulating resistance and connecting the second protective film to the common electrode of a wiring conductor layer. CONSTITUTION:A head main body 13 is constituted by forming a glaze layer 15 to the surface of an insulating substrate 14 and forming a heat generating resistor layer 16 and a wiring conductor layer 17 to said glaze layer 17 by lamination. The wiring conductor layer 17 consists of a common electrode 18 and a current supply electrode 19 while the current supply electrode 19 is arranged at every heat generating part 20 where the heat generating resistor layer 16 is exposed. An abrasion resistant protective layer 21 is formed of the first protective film 22 and second protective film 23 contacted with the heat generating part 20 and the wiring conductor layer 17. In printing operation, because the head main body 13 is contacted with recording paper 12, static electricity easy generates but flows to the common electrode 18 through the second protective film 23 having low insulating resistance and a conductive paste 24 and does not flow toward the heat generating part 20.</p> |
