Noise from bandsaw machines has been a problem in the past, for which no real solution has been available. It has now been surprisingly found that the vibration (and thus the noise) of an elongate flexible member can be prevented or reduced, by periodically changing the length thereof, by periodically changing the tension thereof, by periodically changing the Young's Modulus (E) and/or by periodically changing the density thereof. The driven or driving wheel of a bandsaw blade may be provided with axially extending peripheral grooves. |
