PURPOSE:To set the air flow rate suitable for the usage such as range or the like by a method wherein an air flow rate detecting sensor is provided in the casing of an exhaust unit within a range hood main body in order to correctly detect the air flow rate in the range hood. CONSTITUTION:An air flow rate measuring device A installed in a range hood consists of an air flow rate detecting sensor 1, an amplifier 2 and an indicator 3, all of which are electrically connected one another and at the same time respectively connected to a supply power unit 4 to activate them. The air flow rate detecting sensor 1 installed in the casing (a) of the range hood converts the air flow rate measured by strain gauge into electric signal and transmits it to the amplifier 2, which transmits the received electric signal to the indicator in order to indicate it. The user controls the fan of an exhaust unit based upon the indicated air flow rate so as to set the air flow rate suitable for the usage such as range or the like.
