PURPOSE:To permit deflection at a high frequency (several hundreds kHz) and to make controllable the deflection direction as well by an electric signal by the constitution consisting in changing the direction of light by a piezoelectric element which can control oscillation by an electric signal and the standing wave of a reflecting mirror induced by the oscillation. CONSTITUTION:The piezoelectric element 2 itself repeats the elongation or contraction corresponding to the electric signal when the electric signal is applied between the 2nd electrode on said element and the 1st electrode 8 on a substrate. The oscillation is eventually transmitted to the reflecting mirror 4 fixed to the upper part of the element 2 and the standing wave is generated in the reflecting mirror as the reflecting mirror is supported on one side, i.e., in the cantilever state and as the elongation and contraction of the piezoelectric element are of a high speed (several hundreds kHz). The standing wave repeats periodically as the function of time. The angle direction of the reflecting mirror changes consequently with respect to the incident light made incident from a certain specified direction. The deflector of the light of which the incident angle changes with time and the direction of the light reflected by the specular surface changes is thus obtd.
