PURPOSE:To obtain an angle detector being an absolute type encoder with inexpensive cost and miniaturization by forming plural position information electrodes to a peripheral face of torus shape so that codes representing the information corresponding to each location in the peripheral face are arranged. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes of binary code arrangement are exposed to the peripheral of an angle detecting element 11 to constitute a position information electrode 12. Plural ring electrodes 13 as extracting electrodes are formed onto a plane orthogonal to the peripheral face. The angle detecting element 11 is turned interlockingly by turning a shaft 14 externally and the position information electrode arranged axially in the position information electrodes 12 on the peripheral face of the angle detecting element 11 is brought into the electric continuity state by a slider 18. As a result, the position at a part where the position information electrode 12 and the slider 18 contact is obtained from an extracting line 20 as an angle data of the shaft 14.
