PURPOSE:To enable a tool to be fitted to and changed on a column by providing forked clicks on both end parts of a tool changer and also providing a means to move and reverse said changer. CONSTITUTION:A tool changer 8 has forked clicks 9, 9' on its both end parts. For changing a tool 6 fitted to the main shaft 5 of a column 4, the tool changer 8 is moved to pinch the tool 6 by the click 9' and then moved in the reverse direction to be separated from the column. Subsequently, said changer 8 is turned round a shaft 10, and the tool 6 pinched by the click 9 is turned to face the main shaft 5 of the column 4. Next, the tool changer 8 is moved close to the main shaft 5 to fit the tool 6 pinched by the click 9 to said shaft. Thus, fitting and changing of the tool 6 with respect to the main shaft 5 of the column 4 is performed through movement and reversal of the tool changer 8.
