PURPOSE:To reduce the boiloff of Ti and to carry out the uniform alloying of Ti by melting a Ti alloy containing prescribed percentage of Nb in vacuum, etc., with the addition of Nb metal. CONSTITUTION:The Ti alloy contg. 40-60wt% Nb is attached to Nb metal in parallel. These two alloying materials are melted in the attached state in vacuum or in an inert gas by arc melting or other methods. In this way, the evaporation of Ti having considerably low m.p. as compared with Nb is controlled, by which the Ti loss is reduced and Ti can be alloyed uniformly.
