PURPOSE:The reduction of a nitro compound is effected using a metal borohydride as a reducing agent and a specific metal or its compound as a catalyst to give the titled compound which is used as a medicine without filtration process. CONSTITUTION:In the reduction of a nitro compound of formula I (R<1>, R<2> are H, lower alkoxy; at least one of R<3>', R<4>', R<5>', R<6>' is nitro and the others are H, lower alkoxy; R<7> is lower alkyl), a metal borohydride such as sodium borohydride, lithium borohydride, sodium borohydridecyanide is used as a reducing agent and, simultaneously a metal in group IB or VIII or its compound, preferably metallic copper or palladium or their compound is used as a catalyst to give the objective compound of formula II (at least one of R<3>-R<6> is amino and the others are H, lower alkoxy).
