PURPOSE:An additive for improving affinity of a hydrocarbon fuel for an alcohol, preventing water from separating at low temperature, consisting of a specific nonionic surface active agent containing a polyoxyalkylene group. CONSTITUTION:The aimed additive wherein the residue of a compound containing 1-24 hydrocarbons, -OCH2O-, -OCH(CH2)O-, or dicarboxylic acid residue is bonded to >=half the number of the original active carbons of an atom group shown by the formula -(AO)aR (AO is 2-4C oxyalkylene; R is 1-26C hydrocarbon, or acryl; a is 1-100).
