PURPOSE:To make a vibration center position of a power piston adjustable in an optional manner, by selecting an interconnecting position between upper and lower chambers of the power piston in a free-piston type Stirling engine. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower chambers 22 and 23 of a free-piston type displacer piston 19 are interconnected by means of a heater 16, a regenerator 18 and a cooler 17, while the chamber 23 is interconnected to an upper chamber 24 of a power piston 20. The upper chamber 24 and a lower chamber 32 are selected by opening plural holes 26-28 installed in a wall surface of a vessel 15 to one of valves 29-31, and they are interconnected with each other by a passage 25 and a pipe 29 via the hole. Since the power piston 20 vibrates centering on one of these selected holes 26-28, the vibration center is optionally selectable according to an operating state. Dynamic effect of the power piston 20 operates as a generator for a linear motor unit outside the vessel. |
