PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of a vortex, by mooring a float, rotatably in the torsional direction of a rope member, in an intake water tank by the rope member in a predetermined length. CONSTITUTION:A spherical float 3, being floated on the surface of water in an intake water tank 2 of a pump 1, is moored to a side wall by a rope 4. The rope 4 is connected, so that it may not twist even if the float 3 rotates by a vortex 5, with the float 3 through a torsion stopper 6. The vortex 5 is generated in the surface of the water, but if a free surface is generated in the vortex center part, the vortex 5, rapidly growing by increasing a turning speed in the vortex center part, tends to attract air, however a hollow of the vortex 5, being generated in the surface of the water, causes the float 3 to move to the vortex center part and block supply of the air. Consequently, the vortex, generated in the intake water tank, can be easily suppressed.
