PURPOSE:To produce a thin amorphous magnetic alloy sheet having high elasticity and good magnetic characteristic by injecting the melt of a base metal from a nozzle onto a single cooling roll to cool quickly the melt and stripping the resulted thin sheet from the cooling roll in the position apart at an adequate distance. CONSTITUTION:The cooling roll 2 consisting of a material such as iron having relatively small heat conductivity is rotated at about 0.1-100m/sec circumferential speed and the melt 10 of the base alloy is injected from the nozzle 3 by pressurizing the liquid surface with a gas in the stage of injecting the melt of the base alloy from the nozzle to the cooling roll and producing the thin amorphous alloy sheet by a single roll method. The injected melt 10 is quickly cooled at a high speed by the roll 2 by which the thin sheet is formed. The sheet is stripped by a blower 4 from the roll 2 in the position apart from the part of the roll ejected with the melt at the distance longer than either 1/4 the circumferential length of the roll 2 or 10cm by which the thin amorphous alloy sheet 1 having excellent quality is obtd.
