PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber core from being projected or recessed from the front end of a core holding body by constituting the core holding body, to which the plastic optical fiber core is inserted, in the front end side of a ferrule by plastics to approximate coefficients of thermal expansion of the core and the core holding body to each other. CONSTITUTION:A core holding body 3 in the front end side of a ferrule 2 consists of plastics, and a sheath holding body 4, which holds the part of a plastic sheath 1B of a plastic optical fiber cord 1, in the base part side consists of a metal. An exposed core 1A is inserted to an internal hole 3A of the ferrule so that the part of the plastic sheath 1B is placed in the position of an internal hole 4A, and a part of the outside of the internal hole 4A is caulked lightly to fix temporarily the optical fiber cord. The front end of the core 1A is pressed to the bottom face of a thermal former when the core 1A is softened in a ferrule inserting hole 11 by heating, and the front end of the core is deformed and press-fitted into a taper aperture part provided in the front end of the internal hole 3A of the ferrule 2 to form an expanded part 3B. The part of the plastic sheath 1B in the internal hole 4A is press-fixed by a press-fixing tool from the outside of the sheath holding body 4.
