The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for a video recording device comprising a circuit (1) for separating a colour signal containing a chrominance signal and a colour burst and a luminance signal from a video signal. The circuit arrangement also exhibits a frequency conversion device (3) for converting the colour signal and a circuit (5) for controlling the colour signal, thus converted, to a constant colour burst level. The colour signal thus controlled is level-limited in a circuit (7), the limiting being reduced or cancelled, if necessary, in dependence of the composition of the luminance signal. <IMAGE>
