PURPOSE:To make a hydrogen-occluded electrode to be long-lived by protecting the inside layer including hydrogen-occluded metal out of a layer including hydrogen-occluded metal having a good oxidation-proof property. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen-occluded metal 4 having oxidation-proof property is obtained by making the powder of an alloy of LaNi4.7Al0.3, which is a hydrogen-occluded alloy, in a sheet form by the binder of a polytetrafluoroethylene (4wt%), and sheet layers 3 and 4 are piled around a current collecting member 2 on its both sides and are pressed (about 1t.cm<-2>) and integrated to form an electrode. LaNi4.7Al0.3 is comparatively hard to be oxidized and has a long cycle line even in condition of LaNi4.7Al0.3 alone. Since an alloy of MmNi4.2Mn0.8 is oxidized by only oxygen, melted in electrolyte, and reaching the layer 3 through the LaNi4.7Al0.3 layer 4, the electrode is not brought in contact with excessive melted oxygen as a electrode made of the single layer of MmNi4.2Mn0.8. |
