In the keeping of animals in terraria or aquaria, the question constantly arises of how the effort of feeding can be reduced or how feeding can be ensured, for example, if the keeper is away. To this end, all that have been developed in the past are automatic devices which permit the feeding of aquatic animals or the provision of dry feed, whereas for living terrestrial animals no such devices have been available. The invention solves this problem by making it possible to keep the feed animals in readiness, under conditions favourable to them, and then to introduce them into the terrarium at regular intervals by means of a time switch, with individual counting (i.e. metering) by light barriers. In this arrangement, it is possible both to use the natural movement of the feed animals themselves and to undertake active introduction by means of a push-rod. |
