The present invention describes a high-visibility protective dye especially for dyeing a two-layer fabric, the upper side of which in the clothing consists of over 80% of polyester and the lower side of which consists of wool, cellulose fibres or a mixture of at least 35% of these materials with at most 65% of polyester. The warp of the two-layer fabric consists e.g. of a thread of 100% polyester and the weft of a thread of wool, cellulose fibres or a blend of these materials with polyester. The dye for dyeing the fabric consists of a blend of 4 standard dyes known per se which e.g. are used for dyeing at 130 DEG C for 45 minutes in a 1:20 liquor and are reductively aftertreated, 1.55% of the yellow standard dye being present in the liquor, 0.2% of a red standard dye and 0.52% of another red standard dye (in each case in commercially available concentration).
