In the circular-tube internal combustion engine the piston fixed to a wheel continuously moves in a circle in the same direction in a round tube. Once the piston has passed a flap, the tube behind the piston is closed by this flap. The fuel mixture previously compressed in a chamber by a unit, for example a turbocharger, specially designed for this purpose, is injected into the space opening up behind the piston as it continues to move in the tube in such a way that the compression of the fuel mixture remains constant. Following complete introduction of the fuel mixture into the tube this is hermetically sealed, thereby producing a combustion chamber, and the fuel mixture then ignited, thereby driving the piston. Since the tube remains closed by the flap until the piston passes again, the piston approaching the flap from the other side forces the exhaust gas from the preceding cycle out of the tube through an opening. The exhaust gas can optionally be used for operation of the fuel mixture compression unit, for example a turbocharger, in principle provided with its own drive.
