PURPOSE:To obtain the titled erasable optical recording medium capable of maintaining a recording state even at room temp. and having a high signal/noise during reproducing and reading by forming a (V1-XAX)2O3 thin film on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium is formed with a substrate and the thin film of a substance shown by the formula (V1-XAX)2O3 fixed on the substrate. In the formula, A shows at least one kind of element selected from a group of Cr and Al, and X is the number satisfying the relation 0<X<0.03. When X is in the range 0<X<0.03, the transition temp. is changed by the value of X in the range -20-150 deg.C. Accordingly, the value of X is optionally selected in correspondence with the service condition. The recording is carried out by the irradiation of a laser beam, etc., and the reproduction is performed by irradiating visible rays in the long wavelength region, and detecting the presence and absence of the light absorption of a metallic phase in the transmitted light or the reflected light at that time. |
