The invention relates to a device for holding specimen slides. Its aim is to create a holder for specimen slides which when mounted on specimen stages of microscopes excludes to the greatest possible extent the raising of the specimen slide, in particular when using microscopes having immersion objectives, without limiting the range of observation. The object is to configure the holder of object slides so as, by intensifying the friction forces between the object slide and the bearing and pressure elements of the holder, to overcome the adhesion forces occurring between the objective, the immersing liquid and the cover slip of the object slide. This object is achieved according to the invention when the bearing surfaces of the noses of the shooting angle and of the pressure element are provided with a crystalline material which is harder than glass.
