PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a precipitate, etc. in a stabilizing soln. and the stain of an image during storage by successively processing a silver halide color photographic sensitive material with a fixing soln. and a stabilizing soln. contg. a specified compound as a substitute for washing water without carrying out washing between the two processing stages and by irradiating ultraviolet rays on the stabilizing soln. or applying a magnetic field to the soln. during the processing with the soln. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material is successively passed through stabilizing baths ST-1, ST-2, ST-3 each filled with a stabilizing soln. contg. a compound represented by formula I (where each of R and R1-R5 is H, halogen, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, sulfo or -NHCH2SO3M, M is a cation, and t=1-3) or by formula II [where each of R6 and R6' is H, alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic ring, each of R7 and R7' is OH, (substituted) alkoxy, CN, CF3, (substituted) amino or the like, m=0 or 1, n=0, 1 or 2, and L is methylene] as a substitute for washing water. At this time, ultraviolet rays are irradiated on the stabilizing soln. from ultraviolet lamps 1, 2, 5 placed above the baths, 3, 4, 6 placed vertically in the baths, and 7, 8 placed horizontally in the baths, and/or the stabilizing soln. is stirred with polyethylene coated permanent magnets placed in the baths. The shelf stability of the stabilizing soln. itself and that of a formed image are enhanced. |
