The invention relates to a water ring pump in which the pumping medium is fed into, or out of, the blade chambers approximately radially outwards or radially inwards, respectively, from the blade-free internal chamber bounded by the blade roots, and is intended to provide a simple and cheap water ring pump which has good capacities, is robust and has low susceptibility to malfunction and can also be repaired simply and inexpensively if need be. According to the invention, for this purpose it is proposed to mount the blade wheel in a floating manner on the drive shaft which is passed through the pump housing on one side of the pump and to dispose the inlet or outlet openings for the medium to be pumped into the blade wheel chambers or out of them, respectively, at the circumference of a distributor body which is disposed inside the free space bounded by the blade roots, which can be pulled out of the pump housing on the side of the latter situated opposite the drive shaft for the blade wheel and which has in its internal chamber an inlet duct and an outlet duct for the medium to be pumped (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
