Continuously operating coating press, especially for coating chipboards, fibreboards, and similar substrates, and for producing laminates, having a press upper part, a press lower part, at least one heating plate on the press upper part and/or on the press lower part, two driven pressing belts which are made of sheet steel and are guided endlessly around the press upper part and the press lower part and in a pressing gap along the heating plate, and rolling body assemblies which are also guided in a circulatory manner. The pressing belts are supported in the pressing gap region with interposition of the rolling body assemblies by the press upper part and by the press lower part and therefore by the heating plate. The press part which is situated opposite the heating plate has a resilient compensating layer on the pressing gap side, which layer is covered by an elastically deformable compensating sheet. The rolling bodies of the assigned rolling body assembly roll in the pressing gap on the compensating sheet and on the assigned pressing belt. <IMAGE>
