DEVICE FOR HOLDING BUILD-UP WELDING MEMBER

PURPOSE:To extend the life of a rotary table by forming a build-up edge of a highly heat-resistant member to a valve imposing surface of the rotary table. CONSTITUTION:A mounting base 5 is fixed to a revolving shaft 4 in the bottom of an inclined machine frame 1 and the rotary table 6 made of copper is installed thereon. Cooling water circulates in an inside hollow part 7 to cool the table 6. A bushing 12 made of ceramics having high heat resistance is mounted to the outside circumference of the table 6 and the annular build-up edge 14 is formed around the imposing surface 13. The bevel part of an engine valve 15 held by a holding member 19 is fitted into the build-up edge 14 and the table 6 is rotated at a low speed. The face of the valve 15 is then subjected to plasma arc build-up welding by a plasma torch 20. The build-up edge having the high heat resistance is prevented from being injured by the high heat of the plasma arc and welding spatter and therefore the life of the table 6 is extended.
