PURPOSE:To decrease the chip area of a storage element by connecting the input terminal of a received error correcting code string and the output of an error correcting circuit to the same storing circuit through a switch, and also connecting a receiving clock and a correcting clock to the storing circuit and the error correcting circuit through the switch. CONSTITUTION:When receiving an error correcting code string, a terminal 4 and a terminal 5 of a switch 2 are connected, and a received error correcting code string is inputted to an input terminal 1, and stored in a storage part 6. After the error correcting code string is received and stored in the storage part 6, the error correcting processing is executed, and a terminal 3 and the terminal 5 of the data switch 2 are connected. The error correcting code string which is stored in the storage circuit 6 is read out successively from its head and corrected as to its error by an error correcting circuit 7, and thereafter, stored successively from its head in the storing circuit 6 through the data switch 2. That is to say, in the storing circuit 6, the error correcting code string whose error is corrected is stored in a position where the received error correcting code string is read out.
